SAVE MONA VALE HOSPITAL PUBLIC MEETING
MONA VALE MEMORIAL HALL
18 JULY 2018 AT 7PM
Concerned about what happens when Mona Vale Hospital closes and you or your loved one has asthma, a heart attack, stroke, anaphylactic reaction or problems in labour?
Will the new private hospital at Frenchs Forest meet our needs?
Will the new private hospital at Frenchs Forest meet our needs?
The Protect Pittwater forum 18 July 2018 will be investigating what can be done to ensure that:
(1) A true emergency department remains at Mona Vale Hospital
(2) The 'Main Building' is not demolished and the land remains in public ownership
(3) Appropriate treatment is available to public and private patients at the new Northern Beaches Hospital
(4) Excellent transport will be available for emergency patients and visitors to the new hospital for residents of Pittwater.
THE Protect Pittwater Association will hold a public forum at Mona Vale Memorial Hall at 7pm next Wednesday 18 July 2018 to draw attention to what it calls the risks associated with the closure of Mona Vale Hospital's emergency department.
The association wants Northern Beaches Council to support its fight and association president Bob Grace said recent briefings by health officials had failed to ease resident concerns.
Mr Grace said Pittwater was sometimes cut off by flooding or bushfires, putting lives at risk when there were emergencies. "The fight for Mona Vale Hospital is not over yet and we ask that our representatives advocate urgently with the NSW Government on our behalf to ensure that everyone in Pittwater receives the standard of care that we would expect living in a major city." he said.
The council's acting chief executive officer David Kerr said the council "strongly supports the retention of health services at the Mona Vale hospital site as is being planned by NSW Health."

There is to be a rally to save Mona Vale Hospital but it seems that we cannot expect support from Northern Beaches Council staff. Is it correct that the Acting Council CEO actually believes that planning by NSW Health for the future of our Mona Vale Hospital is enough? I would like Mr Kerr back this up by attending the rally next Wednesday and explain why we are wrong about our concerns for the future?

Elisabeth Lucy Moody We had to call the ambulance for my Mum on Friday and she has been in Mona Vale Hospital Emergency over the weekend. She is a strong supporter of Protect Pittwater and I am incredibly grateful to Mona Vale Hospital emergency staff for looking after her. I cannot imagine us having to go to French’s Forest in times of emergency. It will be scary and its just too far and takes too long. I am mourning the end of so many good things in this area at the moment. The beautiful bush and wildlife, which is under threat and disappearing and now the closure of something so important to our local community
