The “Fine Tuning” works for the new Bungan Lane Car Park at Mona Vale were described by Pittwater Council General Manager Mark Ferguson in February’s Pittwater Life to solve “teething problems” to improve vehicle turning. These works included shortening of the guardrails and kerbing and complete removal of guardrails in other instances.
For shortening of the guardrails angle grinders were used which produced sparks when cutting and grinding the ferrous metal. The sparks landed on the ground around the work area and the resultant fine metal particles lay on the new concrete ramps.
These metal particles have now rusted and resulted in brown stains on the new concrete ramps and kerbs.
Photos are included showing this, taken just 2 days after the official opening.
