Attend Jason Falinski's Pittwater Community Forum Q&A.
If you haven't met him yet or if you'd like to ask him a question on Federal government policy or his vision for the Northern Beaches, please go along.
He is keen to get your feedback on what they are doing well, not so well, and what you think they could be doing better.
The meeting in the auditorium of the Pittwater RSL went well with approximately 30 people attending. Jason was born 24 August 1970 and introduced himself as Federal Member for Mackellar and gave a brief background of himself. His family settled in this area in 1946 / 1947 and lived in Collaroy. He was born in Manly hospital. He grew up in Belrose. He attended Our Lady of Good Counsel Primary School at Forestville, before completing his secondary education at St Ignatius’ College, Riverview being taught by the Jesuits.
Jason went on to say it is an unwritten rule that if you want to represent this area in Federal Parliament you need to be taught by the Jesuits.
He then went to Sydney University and did a degree in Agricultural Economics has an MBA from the UNSW and a graduate diploma in Applied Finance.
Before entering Parliament was the Head of Mergers, Acquisitions and Strategy at Insurance Australia Group. This sent him around most of South East Asia looking for insurance companies to buy.
He then progressed and had his own company called Carewell Health http://carewell.com.au/
In April 2016, Falinski won a preselection battle over the incumbent member, former Speaker Bronwyn Bishop, to represent the Liberal Party of Australia at the 2016 Australian election in the safe Liberal seat of Mackellar. Jason currently lives in Collaroy.
The Falinski Forum evening saw an outline of many issues on both Federal and State Government Level.

An Ambulance took 40 minutes to get to an emergency in Warriewood and when on transport from Warriewood got lost trying to get to Mona Vale Hospital, they weren’t from and didn’t know the Northern Beaches area.
People don’t know who to believe in Politics and people are loosing faith in Political Leaders

Public Transport Infrastructure – B-Line is not the answer, we have currently a second or third rate solution with the yellow buses, they are bumpy, jerky, slow and uncomfortable. On the weekends they sit in the same gridlock as everyone else, there’s no bus lanes and no priority for them.
Metro train like system from Dee Why/Beacon Hill to Chatswood and beyond, but higher density will result

Engaging Youth to be more involved in Political Issues

The State Government is building ‘Beaches Link’ which means you will be able to get on the Wakehurst Parkway at North Narrabeen and travel all the way to Canberra without going through any traffic lights.
